LO1 - Specification Terms

Circulation - The magazines reach/ how many copies of your magazine are made.
Readership - How many times the product is viewed.
Frequency - How often the magazine is available. Monthly, bi-weekly etc

Specification
Page sizes - Single page, dps,

*Any print product - Magazines, newspapers, posters, leaflets, billboards,
Trim - The page size which the orignal print is cut to.
Bleed - The area towards the outside of the page where it will be trimmed. Where the background should fill
Safe Area - The area where the text or grahpics will not be intefered with either by the trim or the folds in the paper/ where your text or images come up to on a page.
-refers to the placement of conventions on a magazine page

LO1: Marketting and distribution methods

Marketing - How the company makes the audience aware of the product (advertising).
Methods of marketing:
  • Posters/ billboards - Traditional, below the line marketing methods
  • Social Media - Interactive}feedback from targeted audience., free
  • Leaflets/ handouts

Distribution - Is the way in which a product reaches and audience for example a magazine can be distribute online but also via shops or subscriptions.
  • Free - handouts

  • Subscription/ post
  • Online - can be shared via social media, instant access, cheap (ezine)

Size of advert
Region/ Type of magazine - Larger readership and bigger circulation = more money to advertise
Quality of paper
Location in magazine - Back page magazine ad most expensive
Graphic design costs if required

Media Pack - Is used to attract advertisers to a magazine/ publication.
   - Information on target audiance, demographic
   - Advertising rates
   - Information about the magazine
